The one thing that keeps New Englander's young and active is the constantly changing weather. One gets natural exercise as a way of life in New England.  To get out of the house, one has to put fleece on, a parka on, heavy socks, boots.... Then to come back in the house one has to do everything in reverse... See what I mean, Exercise is a way of life!!!  To brave the weather and bathe in the Natural New-England forests, now that is Exercise for the Mind, Body and Soul!!

Most folks will call this crappy weather, but there are hardy souls out there (atleast 4 we know of :)) that were out merrilly Nordic Walking.  Yes, we were light on participants today, (Dr's. appointments and Colds) but the mood was jovial as usual.  It was a longer hike than usual (1hr, 54mins, 3.14mi), but that was because once we are out there, no one really wants to hurry back to the buzz of daily life. It was a more relaxed pace (36min/mile) than usual but that was because it was slick ice most of the way.  It takes a while to trust the micro-spikes and not worry about sliding (Yes micro-spikes do work really well).

The scenery as you see from the pictures below, was simply gorgeous.  The water in the streams rushing below the crusty ice, create these gorgeous natural pearl neclace patterns.  Hard to see in pictures and describe in a blog. The weather was a mix of light misty drizzle and snow-showers.  Droplets would condense against the dark bark of the spindely tree branches and look like tiny pearl decorations. Simply Gorgeous. Oh the Air....  So crisp and uniquely New-England Fresh.  Ahh the delicate aroma of fermented apple and rustic pine.... Great conversations and amusing stories...  It was indeed a good day to be Nordic Walking!!!
