NordicWalkMA launched its Official First Class!! December 2nd, 2021, 10am.

We met at the Head Quarters of Harold Parker State Forest and started hiking from there.

We had 3 wonderful students that were willing to brave the eccentric New England weather, to join this class.  The light rain was done by 8am.  By 10am it was cloudy but the bright sun peeked in every now and then to check in on us.  The scenery was gorgeous as usual, Classic New England Fall!!  The temperature was chilly 50F but we were all dressed warm and ready to Nordic Walk.

We covered about 1.7miles at a pace of about 40min/mile (click on the link below for the map and hike details). The class was about an hour long.  Good Instructions, decent weather and conditions, Great venue and Students!!

The First Class's First Hike!!!

We met for our second hike December 9th, 2021, 10am.  It had snowed the previous night so it was a great opportunity to learn to wear and use Micro-spikes for a little bit.  Some folks liked it, for others the snow/leaves seemed to stick to the heels.  There was still a lot of learning.  Denise was out for the first half of the hike, attending to our daughter's Driving Test (She passed!!! Yeaaahhh!!).  Girish lead for the first half and Viki Vasquez(Our Friend and RN) was the Sweep.  We did the same hike as the previous class.  It was another perfect day. Denise joined and lead the second half of the class.

We covered about 1.6miles at a pace of about 38min/mile (click on the link below for the map and hike details). The class was about an hour long.

The First Class's Second Hike!!!

Our third hike was on December 16th, 2021, 10am.  It rained the previous night, right up until the morning, 8am sorts.  The conditions were a bit soggier than usual.  Given those conditions, the group did quite well.  We seemed to beat our previously recorded times. Progress!!  It is hard to put words to the beauty of the rustic New England woods.  The air was sooo very crisp and fresh. Great group, lots of lively conversations and a great vigorous hike.

We covered about 1.97miles at a pace of about 33min/mile (click on the link below for the map and hike details). The class was about an hour long.

The First Class's Third Hike!!!

Our fourth hike was on December 23rd, 2021, 10am.  The students dropped out because it was too close to Christmas. We did the Hike anyways to record it. The state forest was gorgeous as usual.  The students were there in spirit (Christmas Spirit to be precise :)). The students should be proud to know that "in spirit" they covered 2.62miles in 1hour-7mins.  The pace was about 26mins a mile (click on the link below for the map and hike details). That is darned good!!!
